Composite Aluminum Construction Panels

Composite panels (in other words, "sandwich panels") are a multi-component building material used mainly for cladding facades. Such shields are made of aluminum sheets covered with a paint layer. The thickness of each of the sheets can reach 0.5 mm. There is a polymer layer between the plates. The total thickness of the finishing material is in the range from 3 to 6 mm.

Most often composite materials can be found in the exterior decoration of buildings of different purposes. Their use is due to the technology of arrangement of ventilated facades. In addition, aluminum panels that are resistant to wear and easy to clean can often be seen in the cladding of public places, such as train stations, restaurants, hospitals, airports, as well as advertising structures.

Composite panels during installation can be fixed with the bending of the sheet. Ideally, the smallest bend radius is equal to the thickness of the composite panel itself. To give a sheet of composite aluminum a rounded shape, it is necessary to bend special mounting lugs located along the entire perimeter of the sheet perpendicular to its main plane. Then these bent elements are sent to the mounting profile already installed on the working surface of the wall.

Profiles for mounting composite panels are divided, as a rule, into three main types: with a sealed joint between aluminum sheets, with an open joint and with an open seam protected by a water-repellent panel. To increase the rigidity of the facade, composite panels can be additionally supported from the inside with a wooden beam or flat sheets of some material.
In facing facades with composite aluminum plates, it is necessary to note such positive properties as exceptional durability of the coating and an unlimited choice of materials by color. Composite sheets are perfectly amenable to processing with various tools. As an example, milling can be called, by means of which the necessary technical holes of various configurations can be created in the panels.

Another advantage of this finishing material for facades is its low weight. The relative weight of an aluminum composite panel is about 6 kg per square meter. At the same time, the sheets themselves are not a thermal insulation material, and the characteristics of the inner polymer layer are selected in such a way as to preserve the best heat exchange between the inner and outer aluminum sheets. If this is not done, then with excessive heating or cooling of the outer sheet, significant deformations of the entire finishing coating are possible.

To exclude the possibility of the formation of so-called cold bridges, special thermal insulation pads made of paronite are used between the load-bearing wall and the mounting brackets.
